I’m a 40-something PhD student in Education Policy. In May 2011 (still in my 40s) I graduated with a PhD in Education Policy. I study school choice, both contemporary and historical aspects, student achievement and the transition from high school to college.

This blog is a chronicle of my journey to become an academic and a scholar. My identity is changing along with my career, and some days that is more difficult than others.

Along the way I’ll share some of the things I’ve learned about productivity and navigating the academic world. Sometimes I’ll even talk about education policy. Anything to keep writing…
