What is it about Halloween that causes otherwise sane, reasonable adult women to dress up in the most revealing, sexualizing way?  I mean, I kind of expect it on campus, and admit to having done it myself when I was in my low 20s.

But I stopped for gas this morning and saw a women my age (late 30s/early 40s) dressed up in a schoolgirl outfit with a skirt that barely covered her undies (assuming she was wearing any), a white shirt open at least 2 buttons too far, a skin-tight v-neck sweater vest that made the 2 missing buttons crystal clear, pigtails, knee socks, etc.  She was clearly on her way to work.

What was she thinking?  Halloween to men means “dress up scary”.  Why do women seem to think it means “dress up slutty”?  Do women equate blatant sexuality with scary?  Does our sexuality scare us?  Or is this the one day of the year when no one believes you are ACTUALLY a whore if you go out dressed like that?  (Which is true; I don’t think that woman was a whore for dressing like that – I think she was an idiot.  That’s different.)
