FAQ for my students: The Rapture

A: None of our instructors bear much chance of being judged worthy. However, on the off chance your instructor is chosen, an army of unemployed secular Marxists is waiting to take his/her place.

In case you were wondering, as an atheist I’m safe and enough of a sucker that I’ll take care of the pets of anyone who is actually raptured if you let me know and send me a house key  I won’t even charge you.

And one REALLY clever joke.  One of the labs deals with a character called “Bloody Mary” whose statistics class is given a test for cheerfulness.  They average 82.something, more than prior years at 78.  The narrative asks you to say whether you think Bloody Mary deserves her nickname.  One of the students said that, given the high cheerfulness scores, “she really should be called Elizabeth”.

When you’re in grad school, every millimeter counts
